March in Wisconsin is notorious for coming in like a lion, but this time around it was all about horses and small animals—and the remarkable veterinarians from across the state who take care of them.
We kicked off the third month of the young year with our first-ever Spring Training ‘25, and it proved to be the perfect way to spend a windy and chilly, but super sunny, Saturday. The UW School of Veterinary Medicine provided the scholarly setting for a jampacked day of classroom lectures, interactive insights, and hallway laughs. Over 100 equine and small animal veterinarians spent time in speaker sessions and hands-on labs, refining their existing skills, learning new techniques, and getting up close to the latest technology. From abdomen ultrasound and surgical oncology to myxomatous mitral valve degeneration and computed tomography, our expert presenters covered it all and then some.

For many attendees, this was a chance to get back to their alma mater, tour the brand-new facility, and reminisce about the good ole days with colleagues, no matter how long it had been since they walked the halls. The vibe was energetic and the feedback positive. But don’t take our word for it. Here’s what they had to say:
“I enjoy the ease of on-demand online CE,
but I don’t feel it will ever take the place of in-person events like this
and being able to discuss things with my colleagues face-to-face. “
Summer Henschel, DVM, Berlin Veterinary Clinic
“All the speakers and topics were great. But the wound management lectures were my favorite.
The presenter was bright and engaging, and I can apply this information in my practice right away.”
Kimberly Everson, DVM, St. Bernard’s Animal Medical Center, Van Dyne, WI
“It was so good to be back at the SVM and hear the great lectures!”
Kristin BeVirt-Patneaude, DVM, Greendale Village Vet
An Attitude of Gratitude

And last but definitely not least, thank you to our legendary event partners: UW School of Veterinary Medicine and Wisconsin Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory.
These events don’t happen without all of you signing on and stepping up. So, thank you! And members, we’ll see you at the next big WVMA event. We think you should aim to be there. Hint hint.
