David A. Reid, DVM
Dr. Reid owns and operates Rocky Ridge Dairy Consulting, LLC, based in Hazel Green, Wisconsin. The company provides dairy producers with information and services designed to maximize the production of quality milk. Dr. Reid has 44 years of experience as a practicing dairy veterinarian and dairy consultant. In addition, he spent more than eight years working for BouMatic in Madison, Wisconsin as the Director of Milk Harvest, Science & Technology, where he played a major role in the training program and reintroduced the concept of being in the barn at milking time to find solutions to milkability issues. His experience also includes being a one-fourth owner of Veterinary Associates Hazel Green-Galena, a five-man dairy practice, for 14 years.
Dr. Reid has consulted in many countries for individual dairy farms, milking companies and other dairy commercial businesses, and has presented numerus talks and presentations on milk quality, parlor efficiency and general dairy management, all given with the primary goal of making dairy farms more profitable. He is a past recipient of the Dairy Award for Excellence in Preventive Veterinary Medicine and holds memberships with the AVMA, KVMA, WVMA, Southwest WVMA (past president and secretary), Grant County Veterinary Medical Association (current secretary-treasurer), and the National Mastitis Council (board of directors 1985 - 1991 and executive board 1988 – 1991, currently again on the board of directors). He is a 1973 graduate of Kansas State University. He and his wife, Sue, reside in Hazel Green.
