Equine Metabolic Disease Challenges and Treatments
This talk will discuss the diagnostic challenges, overlap and treatments for pituitary pars intermedia dysfunction and equine metabolic syndrome in adult horses.

Simon F. Peek, BVSc, PhD, DACVIM
Originally from Suffolk in South-East England, Dr. Peek received his veterinary degree from the University of Bristol in England and was in private large animal practice in Southwest England, before moving to the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University in New York in 1991. Dr. Peek remained at Cornell University from 1991-1998, initially as a resident in ambulatory medicine, then in large animal internal medicine before completing a PhD in viral hepatitis at the same institution. In the autumn of 1998, Dr. Peek left Cornell University to take up a faculty position at the University of Wisconsin in Madison where he has been ever since. Dr. Peek is a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in the United Kingdom, and a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.
Currently, Dr. Peek a Clinical Professor and Section Head of Large Animal Internal Medicine, Theriogenology and Infectious Diseases the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine.
