Harmful Algal Blooms & Canines

Cyanobacteria, commonly known as blue-green algae, thrive in summer weather and can grow into harmful algal blooms (HAB) that produce cyanotoxins. Get epidemiologist insights and a veterinarian perspective on a list of topics, including HAB prevalence and illness response in Wisconsin, health data on canine cases, research on exposure and symptoms, and diagnosis and treatment procedures.

Know the New Rules: CDC Dog Importation Requirements 2024

Tuesday, August 27, 12-1 p.m.  CE Credits: 1.2 scientific

Starting August 1, all dogs entering or re-entering the United States must meet new regulations to prevent the reintroduction of canine rabies. These include proof of rabies vaccination and adequate serologic test results from a CDC-approved lab. This presentation will explain the new import requirements and provide guidance for U.S. veterinarians on filling out the forms dogs will need to return after traveling abroad.

Honeybee Medicine: What’s All the Buzz About?

Recognized as a minor livestock species by the FDA, honeybees are crucial contributors to the U.S. economy and food security. And their health is vital to our food supply chain. Attendees will gain valuable insights into honeybee biology and behavior, terminology, identification and management of diseases, and available resources. We’ll also explore the important role veterinarians can play in supporting honeybee health and sustainability.
