Blue Coat Committee (Students)

Works with WVMA staff to plan and execute the annual Blue Coat Ceremony. Responsibilities include identifying and securing speakers for the ceremony, communicating event details with class members, answering questions from peers, ironing coats prior to the ceremony and assisting with executing the ceremony.

Executive Committee

Responsible for the management of the WVMA. Duties include budget creation and financial oversight, WVMA award winner nominations and selection, and WVMA president-elect and AVMA House of Delegates nominations.

Leadership Committee

Charged with building and implementing a leadership program with several training modules. Specific responsibilities include identifying leadership areas for the modules, identifying potential trainers and costs and securing dates and trainers for the program.

Legislative Committee

Provides direction to the WVMA Executive Board on state bills and rules.

Non-Scientific CE Committee

Works to develop non-scientific CE for all clinic team members based on issues identified by the WVMA membership. Example topics include, but are not limited to, business management, conflict resolution, human resources, customer care and phone etiquette.

One Health Committee

Assists the WVMA in being prepared to protect public health and to be able to respond effectively to animal health issues and emergencies. Also works to build relationships with human medicine doctors to address zoonotic diseases.

Political Action Committee

Charged with developing a plan to increase member understanding of and veterinary team contributions toward the VetMed Political Action Committee (PAC). Funds raised are used to support lobbying efforts.

Scientific CE Committee

Responsible for planning scientific CE for all clinic team members. The focus of the seminars should vary to appeal to all areas of veterinary medicine including small animal, equine, food producing livestock, poultry, bees, exotics, etc.
