On January 1, 2017 the Veterinary Feed Directive (VFD) went into effect, resulting in stricter regulations for medicated feeds. Leading up to the change there was a lot of confusion from feed mills, farmers and veterinarians on what these changes would mean and how they would be implemented. Many veterinarians and farms used this time to look at their Veterinarian Client Patient Relationship (VCPR) to see how it would have to adjust with the new requirements.

"As January became near, we started to have discussions with clients about information we would need to be compliant," says Dr. Chris Booth, WVMA member. "We also had many conversations with the various suppliers in our area to help clear up questions and become knowledgeable about what products they would be stocking."
