Christopher CrippsChris learned about bees when he completed the Boy Scout Merit Badge in Beekeeping while earning his Eagle Scout Award. At Cornell University, he took 3 beekeeping classes with laboratories as part of his BS curriculum. He worked as a bee inspector for Franklin and Delaware Counties in Ohio while in veterinary school at The OSU. After graduating in 1995, he moved to Greenwich, NY where he worked at Battenkill Veterinary Bovine as a food animal veterinarian. He continued to keep bees, sell honey, and provide pollination while practicing. In 2012, Chris bought Betterbee with his partner from the veterinary practice. They soon brought in another veterinarian as a third partner. Betterbee sells beekeeping supplies, produces nucleus colonies and queen bees, and presents a number of classes to teach people about beekeeping. Chris sold his veterinary practice is actively involved in the day to day operations of Betterbee. Chris is the President of the Southern Adirondack Beekeeping Association and is the webmaster of the Honey Bee Veterinary Consortium.
