Welcome veterinary medical students! As the WVMA student representatives we represent you on the WVMA executive board.
We are very excited to announce two new benefits to being a WVMA student member. The first new benefit is the externship section in the classifieds. Through this section WVMA members will be able to connect with students who are searching for externship in different areas of the state and veterinary medicine.
The second new benefit is a resume book which will be sent to WVMA member veterinarians twice a year. This book will help bridge the gap between practicing veterinarians and veterinary students looking to get their name out to clinics. We believe by bridging this gap between veterinarians and students, our fellow students will have a head start on finding a job out of veterinary school and building networks that will help them throughout their career.
Within the school, the WVMA sponsors Vets to Vets School, a lunch with different WVMA members talking about topics selected by students. Topics in past have ranged from legislative impact on veterinary , clinic management, proper down cow handling and many more. The WVMA also sponsors the Blue Coat Ceremony which celebrates third year students receiving their blue coats and moving onto their final year of veterinary medical school.
As the future of veterinary medicine, students play an important role in the WVMA as speaking for veterinarians of tomorrow and giving new and fresh ideas to the executive board and committees. If you have any questions about the WVMA or about the role student members hold within the association, please let us know.
